About Us

Who We Are

Bunya Health Center, Uganda

Bunya sub-county is located in the eastern region of Uganda, 120km from Kampala the capital city of Uganda and 40km from Jinja. It’s bordered by Iganga in the North, Jinja in the West, Bugiri in the East and Lake Victoria in the South which is shared by Mukono, district, Bugiri, Mayuge itself and Jinja. Mayuge district is sub divided into 12 with one town council. These sub counties form 3 constituencies i.e. Bunya East which is composed of Kigandalo, Bukabooli, Mpungwe and Buwaya sub counties, Bunya South which is composed of Malongo, Jagusi, Busakira and Kityerera while Bunya west is composed of Imanyiro,Bukatube, Wairasa Mayuge town council and Baitambogwe sub counties.

Governance

Team working to make this dream come true include Mr. and Mrs. Mufumbiro and family who have some ancestry roots in Bunya and have personal life experience in Bunya. Having been given a chance to live a better life in Australia, they feel it necessary to share these fruits with the people of Bunya. It’s for this reason Bunya Health Centre in form of a charity has been formed so as to extend better health services to the people of Bunya in Mayuge district.

Facilities

A 2-3 Bedroom Guest House (Self-Contained) i.e running water, gas stove with 2 burners, electricity, fridge, 2 shower rooms, electric kettle, dining room, sitting room, toaster, cutlery.

OPD has triage, treatment room, consulting room and laboratory testing room

Staff employed

Medical Clinical officer, Laboratory Assistant, Enrolled Midwife, Security (Askari) and Maintenance personnel

Medical Placements

Long term goal is to collaborate with other countries to bring in medical students from overseas

Students will be able to develop an understanding of presentations, diagnoses and management of diseases not commonly seen in Australia such as malaria, TB, syphilis and malnutrition.

Gaccess to and decisions made about health care.

Students will be able to participate in the maternal and neonatal health and community health education.

Improve on history taking and clinical examination skills and to assist staff with this and other basic procedures within their competence

Gain a deeper insight into realities of providing health care in a resource poor setting. Participate in perinatal care and the delivery of Babies

Participate in Surgical Procedures
